After-Hours Writing Night with Author and Poet: Sandra Jackson-Opoku
Wednesday, February 8
5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Seaside Assembly Hall
Smolian Cir,
Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459

Accountability. Encouragement. Validation. Support. Connection. Our “After-Hours” Writing Nights are designed for all this and more.
Come experience the more intimate side of Emerald Coast Storytellers: face to face, pen to paper, fingers to keys. For this month’s event, we are so excited to partner up with the Seaside Institute and Escape To Create and welcome Sandra Jackson-Opoku.
Part of the Artist-In-Residence program with Escape To Create, Sandra will lead the After-Hours Writing Night. Come armed with your pens, journals, and laptop, and get ready to experience the journey of her award-winning work before launching into a writing prompt.
The evening will begin with cocktail hour starting at 5 PM, with the event running from 6-8 PM. Wine and light bites will be available, so come thirsty (and hungry for more)!
Sandra Jackson-Opoku’s awarded fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and dramatic works are widely published and produced. Retired from an international teaching career as professor of literature and creative writing, her numerous literary honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, an American Library Association Black Caucus Award for Best Fiction (The River Where Blood Is Born), a City of Chicago Esteemed Artist Award, and a Pushcart Prize nomination. Jackson-Opoku will continue refining her playscript developed from a chapter of her historical novel in progress, Black Rice, which explores a thousand years of Sino-African history.
